Job posting

The Geomorphology and Quaternary Geology Research Group and the Section Gravimetry and Seismology of the Royal Observatory of Belgium jointly recruit a postdoctoral researcher in earthquake geology and tectonic geomorphology. Deadline for application is November 29, 2019, 12pm. Please find the job, contact, and application details here.

Welcome to the website of the Geomorphology and Quaternary Geology Research group, which is part of the Department of Geography and the Spheres Research Unit of the University of Liege.

Our team, composed by Alain Demoulin, Aurélia Hubert Ferrari and Matthias Vanmaercke, focuses on studying the processes and the history of the Earth Surface shaping under the influence of interacting tectonic, climatic and anthropogenic drivers. Understanding these processes is highly relevant not only to decipher their interplay with deep-earth processes but also because they are involved in various natural hazards, including earthquakes, landslides, and floods. Moreover, humans are strongly altering the rates at which these geomorphic processes take place. This poses important challenges for the protection of the world’s soil and freshwater resources. Much of our research focuses on identifying and predicting the impacts of climate and land use changes on geomorphic processes and aims at developing potential solutions and strategies.  More information

Our research group is also closely involved in many teaching programmes, including the Bachelor and Masters in Geography, with special involvement in the Master in Global change (Climatology - Surface Processes - Human Dimension).
